February fun times

For those of you who may have missed the news, late last week we dropped our social intentions for February.

Next month we invite buddies to us in Auburn, Edmondson Park, Darling Harbour, the CBD, Hornsby, Gymea, Longueville and Kingsford as we serve up the following: Lebanese dinner, gaming, a roaming silent disco, burgers and a movie, Super Bowl LVIII, an art exhibition, a lunch gathering, and music bingo.

If you’re at a loose end next month, sign up for any of our EIGTH February socials from the links above.

Are you looking to volunteer?

Free love

In addition to our eight February offerings, we have tickets to give away to three Sydney Festival gigs.

Thanks to the generosity of event organisers, limited freebies are available for the following:

To reserve your place, load up the links above. Please note, Gig Buddies’ staff will NOT be in attendance at these events.

Four more gigs

And we also have FOUR remaining Gig Buddies’ social events still to take place this month.

Between now and the end of January we invite buddies to join us in Wyong, Leichhardt, Windsor and Brighton-Le-Sands.

To join us for a curry night, women’s A-League football, a trip to the markets or a picnic outing, load up the links below:

Please note, our breakfast catch up in Parramatta is now sold out.

If you have any questions about any of our forthcoming events, get in touch: we can be reached via Facebook Messenger, email: info@gigbuddiessydney.org or via text or phone call on 0411 252 228.

And we’re off…..

We’re 15 days into January and we’ve already facilitated three social gatherings!

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Friday in Pittwater for a spot of mini golf. One day later we headed to Newtown for another of our 40+ gatherings, and we wrapped up the weekend with yoga and markets at The Rocks.

Goals for 2024

Last week we launched an appeal for more volunteers.

Based around people’s new year’s resolutions, we’re repeating our plea once again.

We’re looking for people who want to have fun, make new friends and try new things.

We’re appealing to those who want to expand their social circle, give back, develop skills or boost their own confidence.

If you (or someone you know) fits the bill, all we require is a commitment to catch up with a buddy once a month.

As a reminder, we tackle social isolation for adults with mild to moderate learning disabilities and/or autism. We match adults with disability with volunteers - both of whom share a mutual interest, while age, gender and location preferences are also taken into consideration.

And we emphasise that the volunteer benefits just as much as the buddy!

If your new year’s resolution is to meet new people and expand your social circle, join the team and volunteer with Gig Buddies.

New for 2024

And finally, we’re looking for podcast enthusiasts to get involved in our new idea.

  • Recording interviews

  • Sharing stories

  • Brainstorming ideas

We’re also keen on hearing from anyone who would like to help us with production, too.

Gig Buddies' staff will be facilitating this project and can provide some support around this.

If you are keen to get involved, please email the team at info@gigbuddiessydney.org.
