Summer's end

Seven down, two to go.

We’re down to the final tickets to our two remaining summer socials.

Firstly, this Saturday (14/2) we head to Warnervale on the Central Coast for an afternoon of ‘crazy shakes’.

Then, on the final Friday of February, our Rainbow Gig Buddies are catching up for a pre-Mardi Gras gathering.

To find out more about both (and to sign up), jump on the links below.

Please note, our 35+ gathering in Summer Hill (Friday 20 February) has now sold out.

Marching on

And our February and April outings aside, we’re hosting TEN get-togethers in March - two of which have now sold out.

We’ll be connecting with buddies in Roseville, Liverpool, Gosford, Dee Why, Five Dock, Macquarie Park, Campbelltown and Kingsford as we serve up movies, dinners, beers and NRL, bowling, live music, trivia and music bingo.

Please note, both the Girl Power! tribute show in Lane Cove and inclusive rave in Erskineville are both fully booked.

To join us for any of our March meet ups, jump on the links above.

And if you have questions about any of our forthcoming events, get in touch: we can be reached via Facebook Messenger, email: info@gigbuddiessydney.org or via text or phone call on 0411 252 228.

The month that was……

Get involved

We’ve had such a positive response to last week’s LGBTQIA+ community and allies ‘call to arms’.

So much so, we’re going to push it again!

Last year we proudly launched our LGBTQIA+ Rainbow Gig Buddies group social events.

We’re all about creating a space for connection, visibility and inclusivity. We welcomed allies to join us too and the love has been real!

After hosting two amazing events with more planned for this year, we’re excited to build on our successes.

Firstly, we’re launching a private Facebook group just for our LGBTQIA+ community.

This is our very own safe space where buddies can:

  • Connect with each other

  • Share Rainbow Gig Buddies group social events

  • Share other LGBTQIA+ community events

  • Share resources and supports

If you’d like to stay connected between Rainbow Gig Buddies events and be part of a supportive online community, we’d love for you to join us.

And, as mentioned above, here’s a reminder of our next Rainbow Gig Buddies event: Meeting at Darlinghurst’s Kinselas Hotel, we’re inviting buddies to join us for a pre Mardi Gras party!

If you would like to join us in Darlinghurst, click here. And if you’re interested in joining our very own private LGBTQIA+ Facebook group, get in touch with Bec via text (0411 252 228) or email: rebecca@assistcom.org

Central Coast disability inclusion

Central Coast Council have developed their draft Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2026-2030 This is a four-year plan that sets their real, practical steps to make the community more accessible and inclusive.

Feedback from the last round of engagement directly shaped the draft plan, and Council is now asking people to review the findings and let them know if they've missed anything.

ACN Central Coast

Our friends from Autism Community Network have been in touch.

They’ve launched two groups on the Central Coast - and they’re inviting people to join their monthly gatherings.

Firstly, their inaugural autistic adults social group get together takes place on Monday 16 February, from 6pm to 8pm at Ironbark at Archies, in the new Archibald Precinct building in Gosford. After this catch-up, the group will meet at the same location and time on the third Monday of the month.

Ronan Soussa, ACN Ambassador and star of the TV show Love on the Spectrum, is a special guest at the first event.

Secondly, parents / carers of autistic children and adults are then invited to join the peer-to-peer carers support group. They meet on the third Monday of the month, from 10am to 12pm at Gosford RSL at West Gosford.

More information about both events, including ticket details, can be found here: www.acnaustralia.org.au

Autism survey

And lastly, we’ve been approached by students from ACAP University College, Sydney. They’re conducting research on examining the wellbeing of adults who have a sibling on the autism spectrum.

In their own words: "You are invited to take part in a study exploring how your relationship with your sibling with autism may influence your well-being.

This study aims to better understand how the quality of sibling relationships, perceived parental support, and the fulfilment of basic psychological needs are linked to overall life satisfaction in adults who have a sibling on the autism spectrum.

The results may help inform future family support services and sibling-focused interventions."

Participation, via the following survey, is anonymous and will take around 15-20 minutes to complete.

Matthew: Central Coast coordinator (0402 708 814)

Carol: CEO (02 9419 6951)
