It’s a #SydneyTakeover

This Saturday (13/2) we turn six - happy birthday to us!

To mark the occasion we’d normally take over a watering hole and host a big party. However, due to covid restrictions we’re unable to meet up en masse.

Therefore, the team at Stay Up Late - Gig Buddies creators and all round champions - have given us the login details to their Instagram page. The #SydneyTakeover gets underway later tonight and between this evening and Friday we’re going to share more than 50 images and stories via the #StayUpLate account.

For those not in the know, Stay Up Late are the creators of the original Gig Buddies project. Based in Brighton in the UK, they do excellent advocacy work for the rights’ of people with mild to moderate learning disabilities - and without them Gig Buddies Sydney wouldn’t exist.

We’re very grateful to the team at Stay Up Late for giving us a chance to tell our tale. Letting us takeover their Instagram account is a great way for us to celebrate our sixth birthday - we thank them for providing us with a Plan B.

If you’d like to see what we have to share, click here to follow the Stay Up Late Instagram page.

February fundays

As previously promised, we’re excited to bring you news of two more February social events.

We invite buddies to join us at The Argyle in The Rocks for movie and pizza night, and in Campbelltown for a spot of lunch at The Bavarian.

Both events are free to attend and places are limited at both. To join us at either, load up the links below:

Brunch beside the water

And as a reminder, this forthcoming Sunday (14/2) we’re off to Cronulla’s Gunnamatta Park for the first of our brunch events.

Our brunch gigs are free to attend and tickets are still available. If you’d like to join us in the Shire, load up the link below:

With only four tickets remaining, our brunch event in Narrabeen - taking place a fortnight later on Sunday 28/2 - is on the verge of selling out. If you’d like to join us beside the lake, click on the link below:

If you have any questions or would like more information about our February events, send us an email: info@gigbuddiessydney.org, get in touch on Facebook Messenger or contact us via text or on the phone on 0422 061 990.

Love (for quizzes) is all you need ❤️

The quiz is back! That’s right, in honour of February 14 we’re inviting buddies to join us for a Valentine’s battle of wits.

Compromising of movie quotes, song lyrics and facts about Cupid, we’ll be asking 30 questions on the subject of love. To register for our Valentine’s quiz, click on the link below:

Friday 12/2

All online games will take place via Zoom. For information on how to use Zoom, load up the following easy read guide written by Learning Disability Wales. Alternatively, click here to check out our 'how to use Zoom' video.

We’ve also written an easy read guide for Kahoot!, the app used to play the Gig Buddies Sydney online quizzes. Click here to read.

To play the Gig Buddies Sydney online quizzes buddies will need access to two devices, one to run Zoom and the other to enable the Kahoot! app. For example, buddies could access Zoom via a desktop computer/laptop and load up the Kahoot! app on a smartphone or tablet.

If you have any questions or would like more information, send us an email: info@gigbuddiessydney.org, get in touch on Facebook Messenger or contact us via text or on the phone on either 0422 061 990 or 0412 145 819.
