Get your Gig Buddies merch

Updated: May 12, 2022

For the first time ever, attendees to our 7th birthday party will have the chance to snag some exclusive Gig Buddies merchandise.

On the night we’ll be selling t-shirts ($30 each, available in S, L and XL) and tea towels ($20), while we’ll also be running a lucky prize draw - giving three people the chance to win gift vouchers.

It’s been a long time since we’ve had the opportunity to bring the entire Gig Buddies community together.

Whether you’re based in Sydney or on the Central Coast, we invite you to join us as we celebrate turning 7.

Limited tickets are still available. To buy yours, and to find out more information about the gig, load up the following link.

May movements

Last week we dropped details of the other events we’re to attend during the month of May.

Limited tickets remain for our outing at Socares Central Coast Animal Shelter, while we still have a number of spaces available for our gathering at Leichhardt Oval.

We’ll be walking dogs, patting cats and making animal toys on the Central Coast (22/5), and one week later (28/5) - for the first time ever - we’ll be going to the rugby union.

Doubling up

We’re delighted to welcome our latest matches to the Gig Buddies family.

Here’s us welcoming Lauren and Brianna (left, L - R) and Shai and Sam (right, L - R). We look forward to hearing about their forthcoming adventures.

COVID-19 Vaccinations

Thanks to all of our fantastic volunteers who have sent through an updated version of their vaccination certificate. We really appreciate you doing this so quickly.

If you haven’t done this yet, it’s important that you send the latest copy of your vaccination certificate to Chelsea ASAP. The certificate must show the dates on which you have received all THREE doses of the COVID vaccine.

You can access your vaccination certificate through your Medicare or MyGov account. Please send this certificate to chelsea@assistcom.org or via text/Whatsapp it to 0412 145 819.

The Public Health Order (PHO), mandated by NSW Health, was recently updated to mandate that all workers/volunteers within the disability sector must receive their third COVID-19 booster shot if they are to continue working/volunteering.

The deadline for all volunteers to have their 3rd COVID Booster vaccination is 1st June 2022.

Please get in touch with us if you have any questions or concerns about this. Alternatively, for more information from NSW Health load up the following link.

IMPORTANT COVID-19 Isolation Update

As you may have recently heard, NSW Health announced changes to the isolation requirements for individuals who are deemed household or close contacts of people confirmed to have COVID-19. However, please be advised that the updated self isolation advice for household and close contacts does not apply to people visiting or working/volunteering in the disability sector.

Gig Buddies and our parent organisation, ACL Disability Services, adhere to the guidelines applicable to the disability service sector. You can find more detail about these guidelines here.

In short, if you are a household or close contact of a person with a confirmed COVID-19 positive test, as per NSW Health we strongly recommend you to exercise caution.

We advise that you do not meet up with your buddy in a face-to-face setting for at least seven days. We also recommend the use of masks and hand sanitiser following this period, and potentially looking to facilitate catch-ups in outdoor, minimally-crowded areas to avoid potential transmission.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to get in touch: we can be reached on 02 9419 6951 or via email: info@gigbuddiessydney.org
