We’re excited to reveal our latest addition to the Gig Buddies team, Jess.
Jess is the project’s newly appointed Southern Sydney Hub Coordinator and is tasked with developing the Gig Buddies project within the region.
As part of her role, Jess will be the first point of contact for those based in area, and will help increase awareness of who we are and what we do.
Prior to starting her role, Jess had this to say:
“Hi everyone,
I’m excited to begin my journey with Gig Buddies as the Southern Sydney Hub Coordinator!
I have grown up in the Sutherland Shire area and I have been working in the disability and mental health sector for the past six years. In this time, I have worked supporting people to choose how they live in their communities, building inclusive participation in social, sporting and art activities.
I am looking forward to increasing the presence of Gig Buddies in the Southern Sydney areas, increasing the number of socials that we can share together, and forming new pairings.
Like many of you, I really enjoy seeing live music – some of my highlights include going to Harry Styles, Glass Animals, Taylor Swift and Crowded House. I also enjoy walking, running, ocean swims, baking cakes, doing jigsaw puzzles and going to the dog beach.
I can’t wait to get started and am looking forward to getting to know all of you.”
- Jess, Gig Buddies Southern Sydney Hub Coordinator

“…..we have heaps of fun together!”
Each month we share news and views from members of our user-led team, Soul Fly Buddies.
This time it’s the turn of Nalyn (below, third left from the back), who talks about her passion for dancing.
“It has been a busy few months! As you may know, I am very passionate about dancing!
I am an assistant dance coach for Dance Chance and Special Olympics. I keep an eye out for students who find dancing challenging, and help them to remember the dance steps, be included, and have fun. I really enjoy getting to know the students.
I will also be doing two solo dance performances with Perform-Ability for Down Syndrome Day and at the Royal Easter Show. I will be dancing to Butter by BTS and Wings by Little Mix which I am very excited about. If you are at the Easter Show on the 16th of April please do come and watch our performance.
It is my Gig Buddy’s birthday coming up and I can’t wait to celebrate with her. I really enjoy spending time with her because we have heaps of fun together!”
