Up, up Sharks Buddies

Calling all footy fans, this Saturday (24/8) we’re off to Shark Park to watch our charity partner, Cronulla Sharks, in action against New Zealand Warriors.

Map of Sydney and the statistics of Gig Buddies and Volunteers

We have a handful of tickets remaining and invites are open to all: if you would like to join your fellow gig buddies for an afternoon of free football, click here.

The game starts at 3pm and prior to kick off we’ll be grabbing a bite to eat at Sharkies Leagues Club.

We’re also providing transport, picking up passengers from Milsons Point (departing at midday) and Central Station (leaving at 12:20pm). Costing only $20 return, buddies can travel to and from Shark Park courtesy of our very own shuttle bus.

Front and centre

Saturday’s match is our charity fundraiser, and to celebrate the occasion we’ll be front and centre - appearing on Sharks’ big screen, hosting an information marquee and raising money courtesy of the 50/50 match day raffle (spectators purchase tickets with 50% of the money raised going to the winner and the other 50% to Gig Buddies Sydney).

On that note, we are looking for some willing and wonderful volunteers to help us sell tickets on the day. If you, or someone you know, would like to lend a helping hand, get in touch via email: info@gigbuddiessydney.org

Everyone who helps out will be able to watch the game; they’ll also receive training (tickets are sold via an iPad) and given a t-shirt to wear. Helpers will also be entitled to free transport to and from the stadium courtesy of our very own shuttle bus.

Up close and personal

And to those who’d like to meet and greet Cronulla Sharks’ first team and management, we’re off to watch the squad in an open training session this Wednesday (21/8).

Like Saturday’s game against The Warriors, this is also a free event. But be quick, registrations close 9am tomorrow (20/8).

The event starts at 10am and attendees are required to make their own way to and from Shark Park. To join us in The Shire on Wednesday, click here.

Hellos and goodbyes

In other news, it’s been a busy week at Gig Buddies Sydney HQ as we introduced two new pairings. Welcome to the family Maddi and Lauren (below left, L - R) and Ranya and Frankie (below right, L - R).

And finally, we’d also like to say a fond farewell to Paula who, after 20 months working on the Gig Buddies Sydney project, is leaving us at the end of the week.

Paula has been instrumental in preparing and pairing so many of our buddies. She has made a positive impact on everyone involved with the project, and her energy and enthusiasm will be greatly missed.
