Staying in, the new (temporary) going out

Gig Buddies Sydney online socials have arrived.

Starting from tomorrow (Tuesday 21 April) we’re inviting buddies to join us for the Gig Buddies Sydney pub quiz and Virtual Bingo.

To join us for our online socials, click on the events listed below. The links will take you to our ticket page where you’re required to register. The ticket page will also include information about what technology you need to take part in the games.

Tuesday 21/4:

- 8:30pm: Virtual bingo

Thursday23/4:

- Midday: Virtual bingo

All online games will take place via Zoom. For information on how to use Zoom, load up the following easy read guide written by Learning Disability Wales. Alternatively, click here to check out our 'how to use Zoom' video.

We’ve also written an easy read guide for Kahoot!, the app used for the Gig Buddies Sydney pub quiz. Click here to read.

To play the Gig Buddies Sydney pub quiz buddies will need access to two devices, one to run Zoom and the other to enable the Kahoot! app. For example, buddies could access Zoom via a desktop computer/laptop and load up the Kahoot! app on a smartphone or tablet.

Please note, questions for the Gig Buddies Sydney pub quiz will be updated weekly and we encourage participants to only attend one quiz event each week. Buddies are, however, welcome to attend both Virtual Bingo events.

If you have any questions or would like more information, send us an email: info@gigbuddiessydney.org, get in touch on Facebook Messenger or contact us via text or on the phone on either 0422 061 990 or 0412 145 819.

Shopping made easier

Gig Buddies Sydney news aside, for those not in the know NDIS participants now have priority access to supermarket home delivery services.

The NDIA sent a unique home delivery access code to all participants by SMS or email earlier this week.

Use your code when placing online orders for home delivery services at participating supermarkets: Woolworths, Coles, IGA / Foodland IGA, Foodworks and Harris Farm.

If you are an NDIS participant and have not received a code call 1800 800 110 or visit the Priority home delivery services webpage to learn more.

Every day’s a school day

And if you have a bit more time on your hands due to the Coronavirus, why not take this opportunity to upskill yourself?

TAFE NSW are offering a number of free short courses that can be completed in just days or weeks, offering practical skills and experiences across a range of industries.

For more information, click here to access the TAFE NSW website.

And finally….

As we enter week four of the lockdown, we’re reminding participants that if you’re experiencing increased levels of social isolation to please get in touch. Buddies can text or call us on either 0422 061 990 or 0412 145 819. We’re here to chat.

And as we’ve been saying for the past few weeks, stay safe, stay indoors and look out for each other.
