Soul Fly Buddies need you!
We are renewing our call out for 2x new members to join our Soul Fly Buddies committee.
For those not in the know, Soul Fly Buddies (formerly known as Soul Fly Band) is the project’s advisory group - made up of participants from Sydney and the Central Coast. They meet monthly, advising and overseeing the ongoing work of Gig Buddies.
As for the role itself, we are after representation from the Sutherland Shire and Western Sydney areas.
Buddies based in any of the following council LGAs can apply: Sutherland Shire, St George, Georges River Council, Campbelltown, Camden, Blacktown, Parramatta, Penrith, Liverpool, Castle Hill (and the Hills Shire area).

Our user led-team have been around since 2016. They meet on the last Tuesday of each month for around 1 hour, usually via Zoom. They have an in-person meeting at least once a year.

September is gone
What a month September was!

October is On
It's coming up fast, and tickets are starting to sell out for our October events!
Next month you will find us in Randwick, Wahroonga, Eastwood, Auburn, Kirribilli, Hornsby, Terrigal, Erskineville and Campbelltown as we catch up for movies, a concert, a festival, brunch, Luna Park, board games, takeaways, an inclusive rave and a ghost parade.
While our Summer Hill event is sold out, there's still spots left for our other events.

November Rain
November will see us bring back our popular online socials, as well as a few in-person opportunities to catch up:
Beginning with our face-to-face offerings, in November we’ll be catching up with buddies in Cammeray, Kingsford, Liverpool, Tuggerah, Concord and Ashfield.
We invite buddies to join us for the final month of spring as we catch up for sushi, live music, dinner, board games, arcades, musical bingo and karaoke.
We will also host two online socials per month moving forward - taking place on select Monday nights between 7 - 8pm.
To kick things off, Carol will be live from London - taking buddies on an virtual tour of The Bayeux Tapestry. Join us for a virtual exploration of one of the world’s most famous historical objects.
Then later in the month, we invite buddies to join us online to test your knowledge in a fun trivia session!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Last week we announced our end of year events for both Sydney and the Central Coast.
For those able to venture into Sydney, come along to Newtown Hotel on the evening of Wednesday 2 December.
We are excited to offer this years Sydney event at a heavily discounted ticket price of $7. This is in part due to the success of our Trivia Fundraiser event earlier this month.
However, we are thrilled to announce that we have also been supported by a generous donation from the Eastern Tunnelling Package (ETP), who will be sponsoring our event.
Expect a night of festive cheer and plenty of party classics.

"I loved the fresh air and beautiful scenery"
Each and every month we pass the newsletter baton to a different member of our user-led group, Soul Fly Buddies.
Today we hear from Bevan (pictured below) who tells us more about his film work, beach adventures and a brilliant find in a Marrickville music shop:
"I’ve been keeping busy lately with work, movies, filmmaking and spending time with friends and family.
I’ve been working at the café and I really enjoy it. I do a lot of washing up, and sometimes when I need extra help, my friends at the café help me out. Coffee is my life, so I have a great time working there. My boss is always happy with me and says I do a good job.
I’ve also been going to the movies a lot. I’ve watched Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Mutiny and The Runner. I’ve also been watching the new DC Comics show Lanterns and it is freaking amazing!
I’m also working on another short film with my friend. It’s about me, my love of films and filmmaking, and some of my past experiences.
I also turned 45 this year. My little brother and my friend Rinta took me to a café called Algorithm in Marrickville for coffee and food. We also went to a music shop, where my friend bought me the AC/DC Iron Man 2 soundtrack on CD. I was so happy and we listened to it in the car afterwards.
After that, we went to Clovelly Beach. I loved the fresh air and beautiful scenery.
I’ve had a great couple of months."
