What are Gig Buddies Group Social Events?
Gig Buddies group social events are hosted by the GB team so that participants* with a Gig Buddies Service Agreement** and active volunteers can catch up and do fun stuff in a group setting.
Monthly group social events are held all over Metro Sydney and Central Coast.
* a Gig Buddies participant has mild to moderate learning disability and/or autism
** paying the monthly administration fee
The main focus of the Gig Buddies project is to "buddy-up" participants and volunteers so they can catch up and go to their own events together.
Gig Buddies group social events are a "bonus" way for participants to meet people and socialise.
All group social events are run as "not-for-profit".
Participants only pay for a group social event if they need to cover the cost of admission tickets, venue hire and/or catering.
Group social events are included* for all participants with an active service agreement with Gig Buddies.
* participants pay for their own food and drinks (unless a catered event)
What: Gig Buddies festive party
Where: Newtown Hotel, 174 King St, Newtown 2042 (see map below)
Tell me about the gig: Ho, ho, ho! we invite buddies to party with us for the final time in 2026!
We’ll be taking over the Newtown Hotel. Details on the night’s entertainment and food options will be shared in due course. However, attendees can expect our usual door prizes, plus one or two other surprises.

What time does the party start? 6:30pm
What time does the night end? 9:30pm
Meeting spot: We've booked the entire second level. We'll see you up there!
Is the venue accessible? Yes - Newtown Hotel has a lift and accessible toilets.
Can I get free entry for my support worker? Yes.
How do I get there? Newtown Hotel is a short walk from Newtown Station, while buses run frequently on surrounding streets.

Please note, transport to and from the venue is not supplied. Attendees are required to make their own way to and from the venue.
Dress code: Casual / something festive if you fancy!
What else do I need to bring?
- Money for purchasing food and drinks (debit card)
- ID.
- Don’t forget your Opal card if catching public transport
- Phone for pictures and finding staff
- Mask and sanitiser if you wish

How do I join? Register by getting a ticket from this page (click 'add to bag' in the top right hand corner and enter your details)
Please note:
- Attendees must bring ID.
- Gig Buddies staff will be in attendance, but will not be on hand to provide individual support.
- Getting there: Transport to and from the venue is not supplied. Attendees are responsible for making their own way to and from the venue.
- Getting home: Gig Buddies staff may help attendees with catching public transport, taxis or Ubers home - up until 30 minutes after the scheduled end; Gig Buddies staff are unable to assist attendees who remain at the venue beyond this time.
- Attendees do not need to be paired with a gig buddy to join us. All signed up participants with a current service agreement or volunteers who have completed compliance are welcome to join us.
- COVID-19: If you’re feeling unwell we ask that you do not attend.
- Participants who require extra support must let the Gig Buddies team know if they will be bringing along a support worker or family member to an event. Thank you.
- Refunds: for those not able to attend, refunds will only be issued to those who inform Gig Buddies ONE week out from the event (Monday 31 August).

To register for a Group Social Event:
1. Click on the event you want to go to
2. Enter the number of tickets you like then click "add to bag" (many events have no up-front costs but you still need to register)
3. Click "Go to Checkout"
4. Enter your email address and agree to terms and conditions and click "Checkout"
5. Enter your details and click "Place Order"
* you must be a registered Gig Buddies participant with an active Service Agreement or a registered volunteer.
** if you do not sign-up (register) for an event, you will not be able to attend.
