Our ‘recommend a buddy’ competition enters its fourth and final week.
As a reminder, we’re looking for existing participants to recommend new gig buddies who are 18 years old or over with mild to moderate learning disabilities and/or autism living within Sydney.
We’re eager to address our volunteer to buddy imbalance, recently announced as 501 to 175, and with your help we hope to make more matches, create new friendships and get more buddies to gigs.
To the person who makes the most referrals, they’ll win $200 to be used on tickets to events, while we’ll also give away a $100 second place and $50 third place prize.
If you have any questions about our competition, get in touch via email: info@gigbuddiessydney.org
Farewell Steph
Tomorrow (11/8) we say farewell to Steph.
Steph has worked with Gig Buddies for the past six months and has made a positive impact with buddies, volunteers and organisations within the Inner West.
Steph, we thank you for your efforts, especially in connecting with so many buddies during the lockdown period. You’re going to be missed.
We’ve organised a Zoom at 1:30pm tomorrow for buddies to say thank you and farewell.
Steph also had the following message to pass on:
On behalf of Carol, Tony, Bec, Chelsea, myself and the Gig Buddies Sydney community, thank you for everything Steph - we wish you all the best for the future.
Pens and paper at the ready
This week we invite buddies to join us online for Pictionary.
To join us online for any of our events, click on the links listed below.
Tuesday 11/8:
- Midday: Gig Buddies Sydney Pictionary
- 1:30pm: Steph's farewell
Friday 14/8
The above ticket links will include information about what technology is needed to join in. All Gig Buddies Sydney online activities take place via Zoom.
Please note, during the weeks when we facilitate our bushwalking events, we will run one online social gig only.
Walks, walks, walks
Thanks to everyone who joined Bec and Steph for our Manly, Lane Cove and Cronulla walks last week.
It was wonderful to see so many buddies out and about, despite the contrasting weather.

Awesome foursome
This week we made four new pairings.
Say hello to Pete and Matt (top, L - R), Reuben and Andrew (left, L - R), Daniel and Chris (right, L - R) and Serena and Monique (bottom, L - R). We look forward to hearing about your buddying adventures.
Prepped and ready to go
We’d also like to introduce our newest volunteer.
Thanks Jacob (above) for attending last week’s training session. We’re excited to get you paired with your buddy soon.
And lastly….
If you’re in the Chatswood area and fancy a bite to eat, why not pop along to Grill’d?
They’ve nominated our parent organisation, ACL Disability Services, as one of their monthly Local Matters charities.
Be sure to place your cap in the ACL jar (above right) as the charity with the most lids at the end of the month pockets $300.
