More of the same, please

Following last week’s National Volunteer Week thank you appreciation post, we’re renewing our appeal to recruit more sign ups.

We’re looking for volunteers who can commit for one to two catch ups a month. Once you have completed an online application we will pair you with a buddy who shares the same interests as you.

Be it record collecting, going to live music gigs, bushwalking, watching sport, catching up for coffee (or anything and everything in between), we are looking for volunteers - both in Sydney and on the Central Coast - who want to have some fun, make new friends and develop their skills or knowledge.

For those wanting to know more, we match adults with disability with volunteers - both of whom share a mutual interest(s). Age, gender and location preferences are also taken into consideration; once ‘buddies’ are matched up they attend events or gigs of their choosing.

We're all about expanding social circles and making new friends.

We would love to hear from volunteers who share our ethos: to promote social inclusion by enabling people with mild to moderate learning disabilities and/or autism to become an active part of Sydney and the Central Coast’s event scene.

Lights, camera, action

And on the subject of our volunteers, we’ve had a great response to last Monday's “thank you” video.

The clip above is a snippet of our appreciate for the role volunteers play in making Gig Buddies what it is. We would love to have more of you on board!

The Sydney Sixers

It’s been a very productive week on the pairing front.

We’re excited to welcome the following new matches to the team. Penelope and Beccy (top, L - R), Lincoln and Kieran (left, L - R), Veronica and Yasmin (top right, L - R), Lucy and Kelsea (bottom left, L - R), Mo and Elizabeth (bottom right, L - R), plus Jacob and Alex (not pictured).

And finally…..

Our friends from Northern Pictures, makers of hit TV show Better Date Than Never, have been in touch.

They’re still looking for potential candidates for series two of the ABC docu-series.

For those not in the know, series one of Better Date Than Never aired earlier in the year on ABC1. The show followed a diverse group of single love seekers, looking to take their first step into the dating world.

If you or someone you know would like more information about appearing in series two, get in touch with the team at Northern Pictures via email: casting@northernpictures.com.au
