Festival, anyone?

We bring you exciting news!

For the first time ever, we’re set to dust off our dancing shoes and facilitate a social gathering at an international music festival.

Namely, we'll be in attendance at Wollongong’s Yours and Owls Festival, taking place on Saturday 14 October.

On the day we’ll be rocking to sets from music royalty that includes Hilltop Hoods, Golden Features, Masego and Ocean Alley.

To see the full Saturday lineup, click here. Please note, we will only be attending Yours and Owls on the Saturday. We will not be present on the Sunday.

Thanks to the generosity of event organisers, we're able to offer the following discount on tickets:

  • $100 for Gig Buddies’ participants (who are signed up to the project)

  • $50 for active volunteers who's buddy does not have a companion card

  • $0 for active volunteers or support who's buddy does have a companion card

This is a whopping saving as a Saturday pass ordinarily sells for $159.95.

Sign me up!

Currently, we’re looking for people to register their interest. To do so, load up the following link (it also contains more information about Yours and Owls Festival).

Please note, this discounted offer is extended to active buddies only (an active buddy is someone who is currently matched; someone who has submitted an NDIS service agreement; someone who has been matched recently; or someone who has undergone volunteer training).

Once we receive notification of your interest to attend, we will be in touch with next steps.

Having been around for over nine years, we know that buddies are desperate for us to facilitate a gathering at a large festival. We encourage people to get involve and take full advantage of this amazing offer.

Out and about

Interest in our October outings is high.

So far the lawn bowls gathering in Clovelly has sold out, while tickets to our Lake Haven and Penrith movie gigs are selling fast.

And, following on from last week’s announcement, we can now offer attendees a discounted entry for our outing at the Koala Park in West Pennant Hills.

Originally priced at $32 per person, buddies can join us for $15!

But before we arrive in October, we have two social gatherings yet to take place in September.

Limited tickets are still available for our stroll through Auburn Botanic Gardens (23/9) and our night of dinner and live music at Campbelltown’s The Campbell (30/9)

To join us at either event, load up the links below:

Please note, this Saturday’s social, crazy shakes in Warnervale, has sold out.

If you have any questions about our forthcoming gatherings, get in touch: we can be reached via Facebook Messenger, email: info@gigbuddiessydney.org or via text or phone call on 0411 252 228.

Random axe of kindness

On Saturday we headed to Marrickville’s MANIAX to take part in a Gig Buddies’ first: axe throwing.

Utilising our unknown inner-viking skills, we had a great morning catching up with buddies while throwing axes at a wooden target.

To see our skills on display, press play on the clip below. And to see more snaps from our gathering, click here.

Thanks to the generosity of the venue, entry was free to all attendees.

We thank MANIAX for their support and we encourage other buddy pairings to check out their Marrickville or Newcastle establishments.

Each and every week we invite buddies to connect with us for our weekly chat.

Our chats take place via Zoom. To attend get in touch via text: 0422 061 990 or Facebook Messenger.

Doubling up

We have two new matches to introduce.

Welcome to the team Shai and Jenna (left, L - R) and Laura and Tiara (right, L - R). It’s great to have you all on board and we look forward to hearing about your forthcoming adventures.

“…start a conversation that could change a life”

And lastly, this forthcoming Thursday (14/9) is R.U.OK? Day - our national day of action when Australians are “reminded that every day is the day to ask, ‘are you OK?’ and start a meaningful conversation whenever they spot the signs that someone they care about might be struggling with life.”

Taken from the R.U.OK? website, we at Gig Buddies echo the sentiments outlined in the image below.

If you know of someone who might be out of sorts, agitated or withdrawn, load up the following link on how to "start a conversation that could change a life”.
