Calling Western Sydney and South Sydney buddies!
It's the final week to submit your interest in joining Soul Fly Buddies.
For those not in the know, Soul Fly Buddies (formerly known as Soul Fly Band) is the project’s advisory group - made up of participants from Sydney and the Central Coast. They meet monthly, advising and overseeing the ongoing work of Gig Buddies.
As for the role itself, we are after representation from the Sutherland Shire and Western Sydney areas.
Buddies based in any of the following council LGAs can apply: Sutherland Shire, St George, Georges River Council, Campbelltown, Camden, Blacktown, Parramatta, Penrith, Liverpool, Castle Hill (and the Hills Shire area).
For those of you wanting to know more about Soul Fly Buddies, check out this brief video containing past and present members.
And if you want to know why you should join our current members (Stavros, Lachy, Jack, Alex, Nalyn, Bevan, Karen and Audrey) for our monthly meetups, click here to watch this video.
Our user led-team have been around since 2016. They meet on the last Tuesday of each month for around 1 hour, usually via Zoom. They have an in-person meeting at least once a year.
Please note, the application deadline is Friday 23rd October 2026.

Outdoors and online in November
There's still ticket's left for next months events too:
November will see us hit Cammeray, Kingsford, Liverpool, Tuggerah, Concord and Ashfield.
We invite buddies to join us for the final month of spring as we catch up for sushi, live music, dinner, board games, arcades, musical bingo and karaoke.
Our two online socials are also moving:
Together we'll partake in a virtual tour of The Bayeux Tapestry at the start of the month. We'll then have a fun trivia session on the 23rd.

"I know Gig Buddies have a lot of exciting things planned for the next couple of months..."
Each and every month we pass the newsletter baton to a different member of our user-led group, Soul Fly Buddies.
Today we hear from Audrey (pictured below) who shares how much fun she had at our first ever Trivia Fundraiser, and her hopes for the future!

"In early September, Gig Buddies had their first ever trivia fundraiser event. The funds went towards our Christmas party this year and I know that we all are looking forward to it.
The trivia was held at the Keg & Brew pub in Surry Hills and it was an amazing and entertaining night. My volunteer buddy, Kristy, and I went to this together as we both have in common of love trivia
I know Gig Buddies have a lot of exciting things planned for the next couple of months.
I'm also really looking forward to celebrating at the Christmas party as well so join in and let's have fun everyone and dancin' in September
Ba-dee-ya (Ba-dee-ya, dee-ya) and dancin’ in December Ba- Dee- ( ba -dee-ya, dee - ya)."
