Calling all Western Sydney buddies

Our user-led team, Soul Fly Buddies, are on the lookout for a new Western Sydney-based member.

For those not in the know, Soul Fly Buddies, formerly known as Soul Fly Band, is the project’s advisory group - made up of participants from Sydney and the Central Coast. They meet monthly, advising and overseeing the ongoing work of Gig Buddies.

As for the role itself, in line with establishing our Western Sydney hub, we’re after representation from the area. Buddies based in any of the following council LGAs can apply: Campbelltown, Camden, Blacktown, Parramatta, Penrith, Liverpool, Castle Hill (and the Hills Shire area).

For those of you wanting to know more about Soul Fly Buddies, check out this brief video containing past and present members.

And if you want to know why you should join our current members (Stavros, Lachy, Jack, Alex, Nalyn, Joni, Karen and Audrey) for our monthly meetups, the following video may provide you with some answers.

Our user led-team have been around since 2016. They meet on the last Friday of each month for around 1 hour, usually via Zoom. They have an in-person meeting at least once a year.

Please note, applications close this Friday (17/2).

Out and about

And on the subject of our socials, we recently caught up with buddies at two locations.

First up, last Sunday we made our way to Bronte for a beach day. And yesterday we headed to Hornsby for Super Bowl 57.

Thanks to everyone who joined us at both gatherings. To see more snaps, load up this link.

Each and every week we invite buddies to connect with us for our weekly chat.

Our chats take place via Zoom. To attend get in touch via text: 0422 061 990 or Facebook Messenger.

The power of the Companion Card

Following last week’s NSW Companion Card feature, we’ve received requests asking for more information on where buddies can use their cards.

For a full list of attractions and venues that accept the NSW Companion Card, click here.

Three up

As this week’s newsletter has gone out one day later than normal, we can bring you news of three new matches.

It’s great to welcome Naomi and Rosie (top, L - R), Rachel and Bevan (left, L - R) and Nick and Husam (right, L - R) to the team.

And lastly…

Happy birthday to us! As some of you may have noticed from our social media pages, the Sydney branch of Gig Buddies turned 8 yesterday.

Thank you for all the love that was shared.

Matthew, Carol, Tony, Bec, Chelsea and Aylin
