April announcement number 1

This month you’ll catch us at the following face-to-face social events.

Last week we revealed the first of our three April outings, the now fully booked-out Grease sing-a-long at Parramatta’s Open Air Cinema.

We’re excited to also announce details of the two other events will be attending in April. To book tickets to either, click on the links listed below:

Pens and pencils at the ready

As for this week's online offering, we invite buddies to join us on Zoom for a Gig Buddies Sydney art session.

This takes place on Thursday at 4pm. If you would like to get creative with us, click on the link listed below:

The Companion Card

Some of you may have recently received an email from us about a Companion Card webinar we’re looking to arrange.

For those not in the know, we recently held discussions with the NSW Companion Card team, all with the intention to improve awareness of the card and the benefits that it can provide.

From our perspective, we believe that the more people who have access to the Companion Card, the more opportunities participants get to experience what Sydney has to offer.

However, we’re aware that a number of buddies have never applied for a Companion Card, while others have had their applications rejected.

The Companion Card team have kindly offered to put on a Zoom webinar for buddies, parents and support networks to find out more about the card and answer any questions you may have.

For those that have had their Companion Card application rejected, they have also offered to hold separate individual Zoom sessions to answer specific questions.

In order to organise this, we would like to gather expressions of interest so we have an idea of numbers and what day/time would work best to hold the Zoom sessions. If you are interested in attending, please click on the link below to fill out a short survey.

Please note: if you would like to attend please let us know before 5pm this Thursday (15/4). In terms of when the Zoom sessions will be held, a final decision will be made based on most popular selections and availability of NSW Companion Card team.

If you have any questions or would like more information, send us an email: info@gigbuddiessydney.org, get in touch on Facebook Messenger or contact us via text or on the phone on 0422 061 990.

One more to the team

We’re excited to introduce our newest match.

Welcome to the family, Anneliese and Heather (above, L - R). We’re delighted to have you on board and we look forward to hearing about your forthcoming adventures.

Six of the best

And following our last update we’ve been busy prepping more volunteers.

Say hello to Jasmin (top left); Amy, Ashley and Vishal (top right, L - R); Anneliese and Emma (Gig Buddies Sydney intern) bottom left, L - R); and Karla (bottom right).

Thanks for attending our most recent training sessions - we look forward to introducing you to your respective buddies soon.

The April cheer

Next week we make ‘exciting announcement' number two. This is something we’ve been working on for a while and we can’t wait to share our news.
