Next stop, Tasmania

It’s a busy time at Gig Buddies Sydney HQ.

Tomorrow our advisory group, Soul Fly Band, jet off to Hobart to speak at the 2017 ASID (Australasian Society for Intellectual Disability) Conference.

Taking to the stage on Wednesday, Soul Fly Band's very own Stavros (L, below) and Lachy (R) – along with video input from fellow member Audrey - will discuss how they ensure Gig Buddies Sydney delivers on their mission statement of “promoting social inclusion and enabling people with disability to become actively involved with Sydney’s live music and events scene”.

In line with the conference theme, Soul Fly Band will give a presentation on “pushing the boundaries” and how, as Gig Buddies Sydney’s advisory group, they help assist in shaping policy and provide strategic direction for the project.

In other news, last Thursday (2/11) we held our latest volunteer training session.

Thanks to Callum, Gaurav and Ellen (L to R, above) for coming in. With one final volunteer session penciled in the diary for 2017, we’re looking forward to soon having five more buddies paired up.

And finally, a reminder that this Friday (10/11) we’re off to North Sydney Oval for the second day of the women’s Ashes Test Match.

Starting at 2.30pm, we’ve got gig buddies arriving throughout the day. Tickets, payable on the door, cost $10 for adults and $5 for concessions.

Whether paired up or not, come and join your fellow gig buddies for a day/night at the cricket. If you are heading along, let us know via email: info@gigbuddiessydney.org.
