Many happy tax returns

WANTING to add some joy to your tax return? Three days out from the end of the financial year, why not make a tax deductible donation to Gig Buddies Sydney?

Did we point out that any donation over $2 can be reclaimed from July 1st? That’s only three days away and hopefully a tempting enticement to temporarily part with your dough via our PayPal page. In order to process your return, please keep hold of the automated tax deductible receipt you will receive.

“But what do I get for my donation?”

That’s a fair question. Simply put, our most recent gig buddy, Kathleen, attended her first paired event last weekend. “She came back a different person, much more confident”, was the feedback we personally received after her and Tim’s visit to the Supanova Pop Culture Expo.

Going to a live event is a rite of passage for virtually all in the community. We stand to tackle social isolation and create opportunities that the majority of us take for granted, and your tax deductible donation will go towards ensuring we get more people out to live gigs.

Any money raised will go towards volunteer training, the facilitation of the initial meet-and-greet between a matched gig buddy and their volunteer, or costs associated with processing the required police checks.

It’s been a while since we have run a fundraising campaign, and between drinks we’ve definitely come a long way: from our launch party in February to the present day, we have received over 140 volunteer applications, over 25 of which are now fully trained (including yesterday’s recent batch, photo below). In addition to the over 100 expressions of interest, we are busily processing the 40plus participant applications’ we’ve received, and we now have four active pairings (with more in the pipeline) attending live events.

Increasing these numbers and getting more people out to live events is what we’re all about.

Thank you for your ongoing support and happy tax time!
