Are you looking to catch up with your fellow gig buddies next month?
In March we bring you five events: a trip to the beach, a movie premiere, live music, tram rides and karaoke!
First up, we invite buddies to join us at Central Coast’s Copacabana Beach on Saturday 4/3. We then head to Sydney’s Universal Pictures Theatre for a premiere screening of Woody Harrelson’s new film, Champions.
Next stop is Castle Hill RSL for a night of 80s hits (Saturday 12/3), and day later we venture south - checking out Sydney Tramway Museum in Loftus.
And we conclude our March movements with a spot of karaoke at Strike Macquarie (Saturday 18/3).

The results are in
We recently reached out the community, asking for thoughts and feedback on how we could improve the project.
One suggestion put forward was for buddies to expand their social circles with others who may live locally. While we love the idea, we explained that due to the ongoing work involved in facilitating the project, staff do not have the capacity to drive such a program.
Therefore, we made an appeal to see if this is something that could be facilitated by buddies.
The results of our survey suggest that such a plan could be implemented at our own Gig Buddies social events: of those surveyed, 100% said they had attended one of our gatherings; 70% said they had made new friends at one of our events, while 90% of respondents said they would like to meet new friends at one of our facilitated gigs.
We love hosting our events. They’re a great opportunity for people to come together and meet others. While Gig Buddies staff will continue to do their very best in ensuring everyone is included in conversations and the like, we are also on hand to assist anyone who may feel left out.
We want to keep the flow and spontaneity of our events. Indeed, we do not want to create ‘speed dating' type gatherings, where people talk to each other for three minutes and then move on. Our catch ups are friendly, welcoming and fun - and we want to keep that energy.
To help, we're going to create a ‘social infographic’ that will be attached to the emails sent to event attendees. This image will include tips, suggestions and ideas on how to engage, interact and make new friends at our gatherings.
We’re going to lean on the project’s user-led team, Soul Fly Buddies, to help come up with a suitable graphic. Once ready, we’ll share the image within the newsletter and social media, before going out on all emails.
Rain stops play
Unfortunately, Saturday’s planned meet up at North Sydney Oval for the Whitney Houston’s biopic, ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’, did not go ahead due to the wet weather.
We’ll be in touch with attendees about a refund and/or a plan B.

And finally….
Our friends from Northern Pictures, makers of Love on the Spectrum, Employable Me and ABC’s current docuseries, Better Date Than Never, have been in touch.
For those not in the know, Better Date Than Never is currently showing on Tuesday nights on ABC1. The docuseries follows a diverse group of single love seekers as they take their first step into the dating world.
Producers are now working on a second series - and they’re looking for single people, based anywhere in Australia, who are interested in dating but have never been on a date.
If you or someone you know would like more information, get in touch with the team at Northern Pictures via email: casting@northernpictures.com.au
