Making a world of difference

Updated: Aug 17, 2021

We’ve nothing but appreciation for our volunteers and to mark the start of this year’s National Volunteer Week, we shine a light on those give up their time and make Gig Buddies Sydney great.

Throughout this week we’ll be bringing videos from our volunteers, beginning with Simon, Emmy and Alisha - all of whom share their insights on what motivated them to join the program (below).

In line with this year’s theme, ‘making a world of difference’, we’ll be sharing further videos from other participants. Be sure to keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram pages to hear more from our wonderful volunteers.

Up, up Sharks Buddies

Yesterday we attended our first Cronulla Sharks game of the season, watching our charity partner in action against Manly Sea Eagles.

Gig buddies formed part of the 13,360 crowd as Manly Sea Eagles took the spoils, winning 24-14.

It was great catching up with so many footy fans. To see more photos from yesterday’s outing, click here.

Sharks Buddies will return to the Shire for three other fixtures, starting with the match against Parramatta Eels on Saturday 8 June. Tickets to this game, along with the two others we’re to attend - Brisbane Broncos on Sunday 7 July and our charity fundraiser against New Zealand Warriors on Saturday 24 August - are available via this link.

The family grows….

And finally, to cap off an eventful weekend we welcomed Charlie, Ariel, Tamara, Rachel, Hannah and Leanne (below L - R) - our latest batch of trained volunteers - to the Gig Buddies Sydney family.

And in addition to our newly trained volunteers, buddies Nick and Sean (below L) and Kathryn and Rebecca (below R) met for the first time on Saturday.

We’re looking forward to hearing about your respective trips to the NRL and putt putt golf, and musicals and dinners.
