To the class of 2018 🎓

Upon the completion of our two final training sessions for the year, we’d like to say thanks to all the wonderful volunteers who came through our doors in 2018.

Last Monday (12/11) we prepared Erin, Chris and Daniel (above, L - R) and on Saturday (17/11) it was the turn of Emily, Carly, Nic and Reema (below, L - R).

In 2018 we trained 52 volunteers, and we’re indebted to those who either gave up their Saturday mornings or weekday evenings. We are blessed to have so many wonderful people on our books who support us in our mission to tackle social isolation.

That’s it in terms of volunteer training for 2018 but we will be back in February 2019, more of which will be revealed at the start of next year.

In other news, last Friday (16/11) we headed to Mona Vale’s Modus Operandi to announce our exciting intentions for service users based on Sydney’s northern beaches (below).

Our plan is that from 2019 we want the northern beaches to host the first ‘Gig Buddies Sydney hub’, whereby a team member will be present at various locations from across the region on a fortnightly occurrence. More details will be forthcoming, but we’re wanting to better engage with buddies from the area, along with increasing our presence with likeminded organisations - all with the intention of getting more people paired up.

On the night we were joined by representatives from Northern Beaches Council, Link Housing, Fragile X Association, Art Enabled and Nexus Inc Tasmania, along with buddies and their families and friends.

Thanks to everyone who attended. We even had our very own Gig Buddies Sydney brew to celebrate the occasion!
