What are Gig Buddies Events?

Gig Buddies group events are hosted by the GB team so that all participants and volunteers in the Gig Buddies project can catch up and do fun stuff in a group setting. 

The number of group events per month is limited because all group events are run as "not-for-profit". This means most events are free, and participants only pay for a group event to help cover the cost of admission tickets, venue hire and/or catering.

The main focus of the Gig Buddies project is to "buddy-up" participants and volunteers so they can catch up and go to their own events together.

When: Wednesday 7 December

What time does the party start? 7pm

What time does it end? 10pm

Price: $30 per ticket*
(*not an actual "ticket". Your name will be on the door. A physical ticket or e-ticket will not be sent to you)

Tell me about the gig: Join us for the final Gig Buddies’ party for the year!

We’ll be taking over the Burdekin Hotel on Oxford Street. Come catch up with your fellow buddies for our Christmas shindig.

Whether you’re based in Sydney or on the Central Coast, we invite you dust off those dancing shoes and join us.

The ticket price covers food and entertainment (a live DJ). Attendees are required to pay for their own drinks.

On the evening attendees will be served with the following types of pizza:

- Vegan (V): Notzarella, Capsicum, Mushroom, Red Onion & Olives

- Margherita:Fresh Basil & Fior Di Latte

- Paprika Pollo: Paprika Spiced Chicken Breast, Red Onion, Capsicum & Fior Di Latte

- Celestino: Smoked Ham, Olives, Mushroom & Fior Di Latte

As for entertainment, we’ll be partying to the sounds of Burdekin resident DJ, Seb. Expect to hear all time party classics!

Meeting spot: Meet us inside the venue - we've booked out the main bar.

Access: Burdekin Hotel is wheelchair accessible and has an accessible toilet

How do I get there? The "Burdie" is located on Oxford Street. Both Town Hall and Museum Train Stations are both within walking distance; buses also run frequently along surrounding streets, and the light rail operates along George Street. We highly recommend attendees catch public transport.

How will I get home? Please load up the same link - https://transportnsw.info - for suitable options on how to get home. Please note, transports to and from the venue is not supplied. Attendees are required to make their own way to and from the venue.

What else do I need to bring? Attendees must bring ID to access the venue. No ID, no entry.

There will be food supplied, but please also bring money to purchase drinks and any additional food.

Don’t forget your Opal card if catching public transport, and your phone or camera to take photos.

How do I join? Register by getting a ticket from this page (click 'add to bag' in the top right hand corner and enter your details)

Please note:

1 Attendees will adhere to the venue’s Covid-19 policies. All attendees may be required to ‘sign in’ upon entry to the venue. Gig Buddies' staff will be on hand to assist, if required. Attendees must bring ID.

2 Gig Buddies staff will be in attendance, but will not be on hand to provide individual support.

3 Getting there: Transport to and from the venue is not supplied. Attendees are responsible for making their own way to and from the venue.

4 Getting home: Gig Buddies staff may help attendees with catching public transport, taxis or Ubers home - up until 30 minutes after the scheduled end; Gig Buddies staff are unable to assist attendees who remain at the venue beyond this time.

5 Attendees do not need to be paired with a gig buddy to join us. All signed up participants or volunteers are welcome to join us.

6 COVID-19: If you’re feeling unwell we ask that you do not attend.

Gig Buddies takes no responsibility in the event of an attendee falling ill following our outings.

7 Attendees will be notified by text and/or phone call should the event get cancelled.

*** Gig Buddies socials are for signed up participants and volunteers of the project. Participants that require extra support must let the Gig Buddies team know if they will be bringing along a support worker or family member to an event. Thank you. ***
