What are Gig Buddies Group Social Events?

Gig Buddies group social events are hosted by the GB team so that all signed-up participants* and volunteers in the Gig Buddies project can catch up and do fun stuff in a group setting. 

Monthly group social events are held all over Metro Sydney and Central Coast. 

* a Gig Buddies participant has mild to moderate learning disability and/or autism

The main focus of the Gig Buddies project is to "buddy-up" participants and volunteers so they can catch up and go to their own events together.

Gig Buddies group social events are a "bonus" way for participants to meet people and socialise.

All group social events are run as "not-for-profit".

 Participants only pay for a group social event if they need to cover the cost of admission tickets, venue hire and/or catering.

Group social events are included* as part of being in the Gig Buddies project. 

* participants pay for their own food and drinks  (unless a catered event)

We’re heading to the Shady Palms, Kincumber for a bite to eat.

Whether you’re based in Sydney or on the Central Coast, we invite you to join us.

Dress code: Smart casual

Meeting spot: Meet us inside the venue, off Avoca Drive (see image below).

How do I get there? Attendees are encouraged to drive, carpool or catch a taxi or Uber to the venue.

Public transport options are limited and infrequent.

How will I get home? We're encouraging attendees to plan ahead. Please note, transports to and from the venue is not supplied. Attendees are required to make their own way to and from the venue.

What else do I need to bring? Attendees must bring ID to access the venue. No ID, no entry.

Don’t forget your Opal card if catching public transport, and your phone or camera to take photos.

How do I join? Register by getting a ticket from this page (click 'add to bag' in the top right hand corner and enter your details)

Please note:

1 Cancellation policy: please contact the Gig Buddies' team if you can no longer attend.

2 Gig Buddies staff will be in attendance, but will not be on hand to provide individual support. Support staff and family are welcome (please include details with any ticket booking).

3 Getting there: Transport to and from the venue is not supplied. Attendees are responsible for making their own way to and from the venue.

4 Getting home: Gig Buddies staff may help attendees with catching public transport, taxis or Ubers home - up until 30 minutes after the scheduled end; Gig Buddies staff are unable to assist attendees who remain at the venue beyond this time.

5 Attendees do not need to be paired with a gig buddy to join us. All signed up participants with a current service agreement or volunteers who have completed compliance are welcome to join us.

6 COVID-19: If you’re feeling unwell we ask that you do not attend.

Gig Buddies takes no responsibility in the event of an attendee falling ill following our outings.

7 Attendees will be notified by text and/or phone call should the event get cancelled.

*** Gig Buddies socials are for signed up participants and volunteers of the project. Participants that require extra support must let the Gig Buddies team know if they will be bringing along a support worker or family member to an event. Thank you. ***

To register for a Group Social Event:
1. Click on the event you want to go to
2. Enter the number of tickets you like then click "add to bag" (many events are FREE!!!)
3. Click "Go to Checkout"
4. Enter your email address and agree to terms and conditions and click "Checkout"
5. Enter your details and click "Place Order"


* you must be a registered Gig Buddies participant with an active Service Agreement or a registered volunteer.
** if you do not sign-up (register) for an event, you will not be able to attend.
